Reflection on the painting

The conversion of a heart occurs in accordance to its willingness to receive the Grace given by the Father. As the Fruit of Grace is poured from the Heart of God, it fills the heart of Man. Our hearts of stone begin to become flesh again as in the innocence of our childlike youth, but conversion is not a one time occurrence. It is an event that happens over the course of Time, the Fruit of God's Patience. And just as grapes ferment into fine wine over a long period of time, so too does Grace ferment and become Virtue in our hearts.

"No one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins.” Mark 2:22

This is how the depth of my prayer life truly began to grow. I desired to be more virtuous, and recognized that for that to occur, it only comes through receiving God's Grace. And a hardened heart holding onto its stoniness is an old wineskin unfit and unable to receive the New Graces God has to offer every day.

The simple pray that begin my deeper relationship with Jesus was...

"Lord, Teach me how You want me to pray."

I prayed this for many weeks before receiving my second prayer. The first insight and prayer He gave me was to understand that I first needed to ask for new wineskins, a heart made fresh and New, so that I could be able to start receiving all that He desires to offer me.

"Jesus, Please make my heart New so that I can receive the Graces that You give me this day. Fill my heart flask with Your Grace so that I continue to be made New

and may become the Man you made me to be."

Story of the painting

I have wanted to do this image for a long time. Someday I would like to do a more detailed version of what I have in mind, but I really like how this quick study turned out, so I decided to share it. This one was done on an afternoon I spent painting with my daughter for about an hour or so.  Below is the painting my daughter made (age 8).
